Many people go to bars to relax and hang out with friends. Most don’t expect to be involved in an assault while they are there, but that was exactly what happened at a bar in Greenville, North Carolina, recently. Now, the two perpetrators of the alleged attach have been arrested. Each was a member of ECU’s football team and have since been dropped from the team.

Details of the attack

Both male suspects, a 20-year-old and 21-year-old, were at a bar on East 5th Street in Greenville. The incident occurred sometime over the weekend of Oct. 16, and the suspects are charged with simple assault. The incident reportedly happened in the men’s bathroom.

According to reports, the victim had opened a bathroom stall to exit, accidentally hitting one of the alleged assailants. That was when the two purportedly attacked the man. The report did not describe the nature of the victim’s injuries as a result of the attack. Both of the alleged assailants were kicked off ECU’s football team the following Monday.

Right to defense

Since the attacks and subsequent arrests have already caused adverse effects to the young men’s current academic situations and may continue to affect their futures, each of the suspect will want to work directly with an experienced criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. Legal counsel can fully explain the suspects’ legal options and work diligently to help the men obtain the most favorable outcome possible, considering the circumstances. Working alongside defense counsel will allow these men to protect their own rights and interests as the criminal case against them proceeds.
